Instructions to download and install DSE Assessment Manager for Windows 95/98/NT/2000:
1. Print out this page for easier reference while downloading and installing DSE Assessment Manager.
These instructions may seem long but they are very simple to perform and are explained in great detail and clarity for your benefit and ease of use. You will find that they are easy and quick to follow.
2. Download the compressed file from this web page:
Click on the highlighted line below to start the download process of one large file which contains all the files needed to install DSE Assessment Manager. It is simpler if you install this file into its own directory but not compulsory (you can create one during the download process).
You may be asked if you want to run or save this file to disk. You should save the file to disk.

This file is approximately 1275 Kb in size and is called "dseman95.EXE".

3. Extract the installation files from this compressed file:
When the file has been downloaded then you should run it (by double-clicking it in Windows Explorer.
(If you get an error message of "No CE signature" then the download of the file did not work correctly and you should download the file again.)
A box will appear which asks you where you want to extract it to. Please use the default settings unless you have a particular reason not to. This will extract the files to a directory called "C:\INSTALL".
4. Install DSE Assessment Manager:
In Windows Explorer, run the file called "setup.exe" in the "C:\INSTALL" directory to begin the installation. Follow the instructions. Please use the default settings unless you have a particular reason not to. Please write down the name of the directory where you have installed DSE Assessment Manager if you choose another directory.
If you have any difficulties in installing DSE Assessment Manager make sure that you have not got any other programs running at the same time. Some programs such as virus checkers and Microsoft Office can cause installation problems.
To see what programs you have got running and to be able to close them down you should:
Press the CONTROL and the ALT and the DELETE keys at the same time ONCE only.
You will then see a list of programs which are open. Select the ones you want to close down and press the END TASK button. (Please note that you should not close down "Program Manager" or "Explorer".)
(N.B. If you are concerned about closing down a virus checker then first cut off your connection to the Internet and scan your whole computer before doing so or scan the directory containing the extracted files.)
If you are told that there has been a conflict in running the installation package but you have checked that no other files are open, please exit and restart Windows and try again after closing down the extra programs again. Unfortunately Windows has some problems with it and very occasionally this has had to be done to install properly.
Note: This DSE Assessment Manager installation uses a program written by Microsoft to install the files.
5. Remove the installation files:
You can delete the installation files and directories when you have sucessfully finished the installation. These files are in the directory called "C:\INSTALL".
6. Run DSE Assessment Manager:
Run DSE Assessment Manager in the same way that you would run any other program:
Press the START button, select PROGRAMS, select the 'DSE Assessment Manager' icon.
The DSE Assessment Manager screen will appear and you can start using it. The trial program is set up with no passwords and you should press the "Administrator" button to be able to analyse the results.
This version will work for 30 days after which you must purchase it to continue using it. When you purchase it, we will send you the password which will allow this version of DSE Assessment Manager to continue working forever.
